Mission Statement

Cherish the Child Foundation, founded in 2004, is a non- profit organization whose sole mission and purpose is to provide financial assistance and increased public awareness for the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home in Sevierville, Tennessee. The Smoky Mountain Children’s Home, founded in 1920, continues to be the largest residential childcare facility in the state of Tennessee. The children’s home provides therapeutic residential care for abused, dependent, neglected and other at risk youth without regard for race, religion, ethnic origin or economical status. By pursuing the mission of Cherish the Child Foundation special projects and services will be provided at the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home that are not funded in the program’s annual operating budget. Services include specialized treatment for emotionally disturbed children, reunification of the family, therapeutic foster care and adoptive services.

Accreditations

Cherish the ChildFoundation is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) organization governed by a Regional Board of Directors. The Smoky Mountain Children’s Home is licensed by the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services as a child care and placement agency, as well as, by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health as an intensive day treatment program. The Smoky Mountain Children’s Home is also a supporting member of the Tennessee Association for Child Care.
